Hard Moves, Soft Balance

Sam & Luka

Jan 16, 2026

Jan 18, 2026

Tickets available now!

We’re excited to offer a full weekend workshop with Sam and Luka this January!

This Seattle teaching duo will be exploring some of their favorite L-basing acro, including a mix of tricky flows, hands-free inversions and transitions, slackro balance, funky F2H, and creative H2H/RH2H transitions and pops.

Over the course of the weekend, they will also share how they train, including communication, nervous system management, patterning safe exits, and how to build towards new skills incrementally and in a way that feels good in your particular partnership and body.

If you like Sam and Luka’s nerdy, work-hard-to-look-smooth approach to acro, this is a great opportunity to really go deep with them!

Our guest instructors

Sam Courts and Luka Ruzic are Seattle based teachers and acrobats with two decades of combined partner acro experience. Drawing from their mixed movement backgrounds (from gymnastics to climbing, lifting to martial arts), and their science and engineering professional backgrounds, they’re known for their detailed, technical understanding and methodical approach to training. They particularly specialize in challenging creative L-base flow, handsfree acro, and F2H/H2H.

Prerequisites

  • Washing machines: Corkscrew, Catherine's Wheel, Big Le Moi

  • Consistent entrance to reverse star (doesn’t have to be a jump)

  • 10 second L-based foot-to-hand

  • 5 second tuck-sit

You do not need to sign up with a partner.

Optional Homework

In addition to the prerequisites, practicing these moves ahead of time will help you get the most out of the workshop:

  • Shoulderstand range of motion: base presses and rotations, flyer shapes

  • F2H stair-steppers

  • Star to Tuck-sit and Tuck-sit to Star

  • Reverse Star to Croc and Croc to Reverse Star

  • Free Star and Free Reverse Star, mono Reverse Star

  • There will be H2H in the workshop with non-H2H substitutions, as well as options for novice through advanced H2Hers. We recommend spending some time working on H2H/RH2H ahead of time including low and extended holds, jumping into H2H, and playing with range of motion. If you don't have a H2H at all yet, we recommend training Tuck-sit, F2H range of motion, and partner push-ups.
